Halyburton Park, (also known by its formal name of Halyburton Memorial Park), is a 58-acre nature preserve that features a lengthy biking and hiking trail, a number of public facilities, and a scenic glimpse into the local foliage and wildlife that makes the Cape Fear region so unique. Located just south of the Downtown Wilmington area, and easy to reach for central and coastal visitors alike, the park is a fine spot to relax, enjoy the rolling hills and natural ponds, and just take in the local setting at its most enchanting and undeveloped.

The big draw at Halyburton Park is the 1.3 mile long nature trail that winds along the perimeter of the area, and which features plenty of offshoot paths where visitors can extend a journey or turn an exploration into a casual and secluded picnic. The trail passes by a range of inland sand hills, ponds, and towering trees that date back 70 years or more, which makes it a perfect destination for wildlife fans and birdwatchers alike. An Events Center is also located on-site, and it hosts regular nature programs for visitors who want to learn more about the wild environment. Perfect for both explorers and everyday young visitors who just want to enjoy the playground, Halyburton Park is a great addition to Wilmington’s avid public park scene.
