Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Holden Beach. Reserve your Cape Fear area vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First, have your group agree to the best dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 138 Tarpon - Pet Friendly Canal Home with a Floating Dock! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area vacation rental search.

Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is best for your group.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Some things to know before you go:

  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.

Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective.
