Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Sunset Beach. To find the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the Cape Fear area area:

  • Select vacation dates and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beautifully constructed home with great canal and waterway views! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
