Tips to get the perfect Wilmington vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Cape Fear area area. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the perfect vacation home in Wilmington:
- First and foremost, have your family choose vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 3-bed, 2.5 bathroom, Downtown Front St. Wilmington With Off Street Parking Lot has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
During your stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Contact the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
