Booking the best Oak Island rental experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • To find the best value, change your family's Cape Fear area vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 3 BR\/2.5BA - Pool, Pool Heating (April-October Only), Water Views, Sleeps 8 has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve your home. • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
