Strategies to get the optimal rental home experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Book your Cape Fear area rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose your vacation week and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 3-story duplex near the beach with balcony, Ping-Pong table, grill, W\/D & AC has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your family.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a specific Cape Fear area destination you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. text the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
