Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • To find the best value, shift your family's Cape Fear area vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 4 Seasons Getaway has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a certain Cape Fear area beach you are enamored with, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

More considerations:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
