Tricks and tips for getting the best rental experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Summer months are high season in the Cape Fear area area. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by having your group commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. A Bit O'Heaven: Cheerful Home in Secluded Cul-de-sac with Ocean Views has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If there's an individual Cape Fear area attraction you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
