Ensure your next beach vacation is a true Island Retreat with a stay at this pretty modern home complete with an oceanfront hot tub and covered dunetop deck! With two master suites, plenty of seating and striking outdoor spaces to discover, there’s enough room for the entire family to spread out here.

Settle down in the living room to watch the big game on the 70 inch flatscreen TV on your choice of a pair of armchairs, a pair of recliners, or the reclining couch. Play a board game or appreciate your morning coffee at the modest round table for four chairs as you gaze out over the water. To the opposite side of the living room, an additional wide rectangular dining table and modest drop leaf table seat a total of 16 guests. The adjacent galley-style kitchen offers stainless-steel appliances and plenty of cabinet and counter space. Clean local produce or the catch of the day in the farmhouse sink as you watch palm fronds sway in the breeze.

Just off the kitchen is a half bath for your convenience, along with a bedroom that provides a double bed. All bedrooms in the home include their own TV for personal entertainment, so there’s no need to argue over the remote in the evenings. Just off the living room, you’ll discover the first master suite with a king bed and attached private bath with step in shower, along with direct porch access that makes stealing a fast dip in the hot tub before bed a breeze. With access available from the living room as well, this covered porch is furnished with rocking chairs and a classic wooden picnic table. The hot tub is located in a attached completely fenced open deck with gates for safety, and a cold-water shower rinse off here helps ensure that sand stays on the beach!

Upstairs you’ll discover the rest of the home’s bedrooms and bathrooms. The second master suite is positioned directly above the first and also offers a king bed. This attached bath contains a standard tub/shower combo, and the room also provides direct access to the upper open sun deck, which is furnished with both lounge chairs and Adirondack chairs as well as extraordinary vistas of the Atlantic. A secondary suite across the hall contains two queen beds and direct access to the same deck space. Both master suites and the secondary suite offer striking vistas of the sea. An attached standard full bath also offers hall access and is shared with the bedroom next door, which is also furnished with two queen beds. At the end of the hall, the final full bathroom with hall access is shared by two bedrooms that are each equipped with a queen bed.

When you’re ready to set up on the beach for the day, you’ll find a dedicated sand path right at the foot of the steps of your covered dunetop deck, once again gated for safety and offering classic rocking chairs and constructed in bench seating. Watch the kids fly kites or build castles on the shore while you sit in shade and comfort! On the ground level of the home, you’ll find an additional rinse off shower, this time with hot and cold water, along with a park style charcoal grille if you care to prepare out. Gather the family and escape to your Island Retreat today!

Though family pets are not allowed for guest stays, those with allergies should note that dogs may be present during owner reservations.

Oak Island vacation rental tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • To find the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning, picking, and booking your Cape Fear area rental:

  • To start, have your family agree to a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Island Retreat: Beautiful oceanfront home with gazebo in West Beach. has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
