Booking the best vacation rental experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Wilmington rental home:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in Wilmington. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectvacation home:

  • First, have your group agree to trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Cape Fear Coastal Hide-A-Way has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If not, email the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
