Cape Fear area vacation rental booking tips:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Holden Beach. Reserve your rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Make a plan and pick your prefect Cape Fear area vacation home:

  • Start by having your group decide on trip dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Charming Beach House with Front and Back Porch water views has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Cape Fear area destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.

More considerations:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
