Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Summertime is high season in Holden Beach. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Cape Fear area vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the perfect rental in the Cape Fear area area:

  • Start by having your family decide on trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Charming Canal Home Short Walk To Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Cape Fear area destination you crave, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

During your stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
