Our top Oak Island rental property booking tips:

When to book a Cape Fear area rental & When to go:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Cape Fear area area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Completely renovated, spacious contemporary house, short walk to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If not, email or call the host before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
