Strategies to get the perfect Cape Fear area rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer months are high season in the Cape Fear area area. To find the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Cape Fear area restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to pick the best vacation home in Ocean Isle Beach:

  • Start by having your family select date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Cozy Ocean, Marsh and ICW view, 2 Br, 2 Ba Condo - Pool & private dock! Sleeps 6 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If not, contact the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
