Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:

When to book a Cape Fear area rental & When to go:

  • Summer time is high season in Oak Island. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local tours and attractions.

How to pick the best vacation rental in the Cape Fear area area:

  • Start by having your group decide on vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Easy Breezy - Ocean Front Condo with Pool & Amazing Views! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If not, email the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
