Tips to get the best rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Holden Beach. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

Selecting and booking yourrental home:

  • First, have your group agree to date ranges and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Genuine at Holden Beach Ocean front with private heated pool and great beach views has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your family.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
