Strategies to get the best Oak Island vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • To find the best rental within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose a perfect Cape Fear area vacation home:

  • Choose dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Glide Path: Pet Friendly Beachwalk home with child friendly features and boat do has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your group.
  • If there's an individual Cape Fear area destination you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your contract.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
