How to find the best rental home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Cape Fear area area. To get the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Cape Fear area attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • To start, have your family agree to the best dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Great family home close to creek and lighthouse has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is best for your group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
