Tricks and tips to get the best Oak Island rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Hailo: Spacious 7-Bedroom Oceanfront Retreat in Oak Island, NC, perfect for up to 18 guests. has 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
