Strategies to get the very best Cape Fear area vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in Wilmington. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Choose dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Hydrangea House - Private King Studio - Sleeps 4 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your family.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
