Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Cape Fear area area. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Luxe Private Beach Getaway Minutes to the Ocean! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
