Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • To find the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, property management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose and book your Cape Fear area rental:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Luxury: Beach, Pool, Golf, Boat Ramp, Pickle Ball has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
