Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose and book your Cape Fear area rental home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. POOL MIDTOWN - Walking distance to beach, parks, restaurants and shopping has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the host before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a certain Cape Fear area beach you are enamored with, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

Have a great stay:

  • Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
