Cape Fear area vacation rental booking tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Cape Fear area area. Book your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
How to choose and book the perfect Cape Fear area vacation home:
- First, have your group choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. OIB - 3 bedrooms - 3 pools - 400 steps to the beach! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
