We know you want to relax without stopping at the store when you get to the island. To get you started, we provide a welcome kit that includes trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper, dishwasher pod, washing machine pod, dishwashing soap, hand soap at every sink, bath soap, and shampoo/conditioner.

As you will find when selecting dates on the calendar, there are minimum stay requirements based on the season. There is a 7 nighttime minimum with a mandatory Saturday to Saturday rental pattern in the peak summer months, and there is more flexibility in the slower seasons. Located on the beach, this vacation home is in Long Beach, a neighborhood in Oak Island. Oak Island Golf Club and Founders Club at St. James Plantation are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Caswell Beach and Bay Beach. Getting the best rental value:

• Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
• June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
• Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
• Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.

• Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.
• Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
• Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Know before you go:

• Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
• Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
• Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.

• On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
• Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
• Did you have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
