Our top Rental booking tips:

Get the best value:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Cape Fear area area. Reserve your Cape Fear area rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First, have your family agree to dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. OKI Beach House 1 block to Beach, Ocean Crest Pier, and Island Way Restaurant. has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific Cape Fear area destination you long to visit, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Contact the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
