Tips for getting the perfect Oak Island vacation home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Summer time is high season in the Cape Fear area area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain deals for local shops and restaurants.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Mead Us At The Beach: Oceanfront home in East Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
