Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Cape Fear area rental home experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Cape Fear area area. To find the best rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Cape Fear area attractions and restaurants.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area travel guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the best rental:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Mead Us At The Beach: Oceanfront home in East Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific Cape Fear area beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
