Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Cape Fear area rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer months are high season in the Cape Fear area area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the perfect rental home in the Cape Fear area area:

  • Select vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Home with Pool, Panoramic Views, Linens Included has 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If there's a certain Cape Fear area destination you are enamored with, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your contract.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
