Strategies to get the perfect Cape Fear area vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Cape Fear area area. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Planning, picking, and booking the right Cape Fear area vacation home:

  • Start by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront screened porch & private walkway to beach, 3 outdoor showers & WiFi has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a particular Cape Fear area destination you crave, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
