Cape Fear area rental property booking tips:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in Oak Island. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitors guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Cape Fear area vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Old North State of Mind: Cozy Cottage, Dog Friendly Home with Fenced Yard has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
