How to get the best vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

How to select the best vacation rental:

  • Select dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Outstanding Cottage in the heart of Carolina Beach. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is best for your group.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
