The second floor contains the living room with a comfortable couch, arm chair, and leather chaise, updated kitchen with new appliances, dining nook, and closet with full-sized washer/dryer.

The third floor is a family suite with a new teak queen bed and side tables, a new twin over full bunk bed, huge vanity, and a full bathroom with walk-in shower.

Beach chairs, and beach towels are included. We have a few adult-sized bicycles that are kept outside and are available for your use. Please note the bicycles are in "as is" condition - guests are welcome to use them or, if they prefer, they can rent bicycles from one of the on-island stores. Guests have the option of purchasing a temporary guest membership to Bald Head Island Club, accepting guests to access pools, waterslides, golf, tennis, croquet, and multiple eateries and coffee bar. The pools are heated through the end of October and re-open in April. The Sumners Crescent community has a shared deck with benches for calming. There is also a charcoal grille at the bungalow.

BHI also offers historical tours, kayak units, bicycle units, guided fishing trips, turtle conservancy, nature trails, shopping, crabbing, etc. So much to appreciate, whether visiting in the midst of summer or in the off-season.

We are also the owners of “Fish N’ Chips”, a bigger 4 BR home just a few doors down - ideal if you are looking for a second home for friends or family.

PLEASE NOTE-
Hurricane Policy: If the local Government orders a mandatory evacuation for Bald Head Island AND you don’t stay at our home, you will receive a full refund for the nights the evacuation order is in place. This does not pertain to voluntary evacuations, a situation where travel insurance is certainly beneficial.

If our home becomes uninhabitable for any reason (fire, wind, flood), and we need to cancel, you will receive a full refund for unused days of your stay.

Because of the current pandemic, and because unexpected situations can arise (health, work, date conflicts, etc), we recommend protecting your investment and vacation by purchasing travel insurance.

The links below are just one option supplied through Vrbo. Please read the details carefully before selecting which insurance is best for you – policies vary in the coverage related to COVID-19.

Camera disclosure: BHI is a special community often described as “going back in time” – while it is a very safe and friendly community, theft can still occur. PLEASE NOTE - in an effort to keep our home protected, we have an outdoor security system. There are two clearly visible exterior cameras located at entry points to the bungalow - front door and garage.

No pet policy violation: We have opted to keep our home pet-complimentary for a variety of reasons, and maintain a strict no-pet policy. Please note that under North Carolina Law, Emotional Support Animals are not exempt from the no-pet policy. Bringing an unauthorized pet to the bungalow will incur a $500 fee and, per VrBO policy, your booking can be cancelled without refund.

Strategies to get the best rental experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Cape Fear area area. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area travel guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and choose yourrental:

  • To start, have your family select dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Quaint Bald Head Island Cottage close to East Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Have a great stay:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. text the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
