Strategies to get the best vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summer months are high season in Ocean Isle Beach. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Cape Fear area restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have discounts for local tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Recently Renovated the Queen's View Beach Condo at Causeway Inn!! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
