Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

When to visit Wilmington & When to book:

  • Book your rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing the best vacation rental in Wilmington:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Vacation time! Spacious newly remodeled retreat with all the comforts to unwind. has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Cape Fear area attraction you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your contract.

During your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
