(5 BR, 4.5BA, 5Q, 2 Golf Carts, Sunday turn in Peak Season, CHECK OUT 10:30AM / CHECK IN 4:30PM)This five bedroom, 4.5 bath, oceanfront Bald Head Island sanctuary delivers sun-drenched holidays just steps (down the semi-private boardwalk) to sandy South Beach. There is a home currently being constructed close by but all work will be limited to the inside and construction is scheduled to be finished by 10/1/24. Cross through the cloistered yard onto the comfortable, covered front porch. Then enter the sunny, vaulted entry where you are welcomed to relax on the beautiful constructed-in bench. From here, warm hardwoods lead you to the open floor plan’s roomy, natural light-filled living area-an inviting and cozy spot that’s ideal for family games and movie-watching. However, this space’s highlight is its dune vistas through its back wall of windows. Appreciate that perspective from inside or step out onto the home-length covered back deck, where rocking chairs beckon you to stop and savor briny breezes or grab a snack and munch at the picnic table while listening to waves breaking on the shore. Back inside, the bright, generous dining area, cornered by more walls of windows, offers access to the third outdoor living space-a screened side porch that homes a conversation area as well as a tasteful dining set-ideal for alfresco meals. The home’s multi-chef kitchen bestows an outdoor table as well as a breakfast bar seating for three, stainless appliances and plenty of prep space and storage. On the other side of this level, a cheery Primary Queen suite pampers with three closets, its own ensuite with a tub, shower and double vanity and its own entry to the screened porch. A powder room completes this floor. Upstairs are three more sunlit corner Queen bedrooms. The first and second share a Jack and Jill bath with a double vanity. The latter also features expansive seascapes from inside and through its door to the second level’s home-length sundeck. This perch is where you’ll end your days mesmerized by the beauty of the sun setting over the water. It’s spectacular every evening! Another Queen suite also bestows sun deck entrée and gorgeous Atlantic aspects as well as its own full bath ensuite. Additionally, the laundry is conveniently located on this floor. For those desiring more privacy, the home’s crofter provides its own deck with glimpses of the ocean just outside a thoughtfully appointed Queen suite that features a sitting/TV space and coffee bar with a sink and mini refrigerator. Centrally located between the two clubs, close to the Conservancy and stores, supplying two four-passenger golf carts for guest use, furnishing three outdoor showers, including a fun event deck on the beach access close to the sand as well as WWP's 24/7 Property Manager Assistance Line-which means you can reach needed help even after hours or on weekends, one stay at Southwinds will make it your BHI vacation go-to home year after year.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON CLUBS: Both clubs are independent from WWP or any WWP properties. As such, all arrangements for temporary memberships must be handled by renters directly with the Clubs. Tenants are strongly encouraged to make desired reservations with the club immediately upon booking, and also to become familiar with club policies, procedures, and schedules. Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Cape Fear area vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer is high season in the Cape Fear area area. To book the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Cape Fear area restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • To start, have your family commit to the best dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Southwind is an Oceanfront Beach Cottage just steps to South Beach! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
