How to find the best vacation property experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Make a plan and pick your prefectrental home:

  • First and foremost, have your family decide on trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Steer on Dock Wilmington Private Mansion Apartment has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
