Tips and Tricks to get the best Cape Fear area vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summertime is high season in the Cape Fear area area. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose your dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Stunning Island Park Home with Private Dock! Only the Birds have Better Views! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If not, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.

During your stay:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
