Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Cape Fear area area. Booking your Cape Fear area vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. \"The Blue Palm\" - Second row home w\/ PRIVATE pool, 4 bedrooms \/ 3.5 baths has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your trip.
  • If there's a specific Cape Fear area destination you crave, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
