How to get the best Cape Fear area rental home experience:

Get the best value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Cape Fear area area. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Cape Fear area vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting and booking a perfect Cape Fear area vacation home:

  • First, have your group select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. The Villa at Sea Trail, Sunset Beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
