Oak Island rental property booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Summer is high season in the Cape Fear area area. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Cape Fear area trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing and booking the perfectrental:

  • First and foremost, have your family choose the best dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Thirsty Mango: Oceanfront Condo on Caswell Beach with Community Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Have a great stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
