Getting the best rental home value:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summer is high season in the Cape Fear area area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.

Know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.

  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
