Welcome to “Fish N’ Chips”!

A elegantly refreshed, striking 4 BR cedar shake beach home in the Summers Crescent neighborhood of Cape Fear Station near East Beach. Sleeps up to 6 adults, 2 kids (2 King beds, 1 Queen bed, Twin bunk). One 6 seater golf cart. Less than 2 mins. by golf cart to the favored East beach. Renovated in early 2022 - new furnishings, new paint, new wood floors in all bedrooms, and quartz countertops throughout.

Bright and airy reverse floor plan with vaulted ceilings over a roomy kitchen, sunny eating area, and living room. Two king bedrooms and two full bathrooms, as well as a kids’ bunk room with twin bunkbed, are located in the main home.

The lower level king bedroom adjoins the bunk room through a sliding barn door, ideal for families with kids. It has an en suite full bath with walk-in shower.

The upper level king bedroom is adjacent to a full bath with shower over tub.

Off the enormous side deck is a boardwalk to a cozy, private guest bungalow with queen bed, full bathroom, TV and mini-refrigerator/Keurig.

There is a full-sized laundry room in the main home. You can appreciate sitting out on the private side or front deck, listening to the sounds of the ocean. There is a charcoal grille on the deck for evening cookouts.

One 6-seater golf cart, surfboard and stand up paddle board are available for your use. There are a few bicycles that are in "as is" condition. Guests are welcome to use the bicycles we have, or can choose to rent their own on the island from one of the rental stores.

Around the back of the home is a cavernous outdoor shower. Beach towels and chairs are supplied. Our home is just a 2 min. walk to the Turtle Conservancy, Mike’s Bites and the community park. Ocean-front Shoals Club guest memberships are available for purchase. Shoals Club pools, eateries, exercise center, and beach accesses are just a 1 min. golf cart ride away!

Fish N’ Chips is a no-family pets and no-smoking home. We also own “Not On Telephone”, a quaint, two BR bungalow located a few homes down on the same street from “Fish N’ Chips” - ideal if you are looking for a close by home for friends or family.

BHI also offers historical tours, kayak units, bicycle units, guided fishing trips, turtle conservancy, nature trails, shopping, crabbing, etc. So much to savor, whether visiting in the midst of summer or in the off-season.

PLEASE NOTE-
Hurricane Policy: If the local Government orders a mandatory evacuation for Bald Head Island AND you don’t stay at our home, you will receive a full refund for the nights the evacuation order is in place. This does not pertain to voluntary evacuations, a situation where travel insurance is certainly beneficial.

If our home becomes uninhabitable for any reason (fire, wind, flood), and we need to cancel, you will receive a full refund for unused days of your stay.

Because of the current pandemic, and because unexpected situations can arise (health, work, date conflicts, etc), we recommend protecting your investment and vacation by purchasing travel insurance.

The links below are just one option supplied through Vrbo. Please read the details carefully before selecting which insurance is best for you – policies vary in the coverage related to COVID-19.

Camera disclosure: BHI is a special community often described as “going back in time” – while it is a very safe and friendly community, theft can still occur. PLEASE NOTE - in an effort to keep our home protected, we have an outdoor security system. There are three clearly visible exterior cameras located at entry points to the bungalow - front door garage, and back porch.

No pet policy violation: We have opted to keep our home pet-complimentary for a variety of reasons, and maintain a strict no-pet policy. Please note that under North Carolina Law, Emotional Support Animals are not exempt from the no-pet policy. Bringing an unauthorized pet to the bungalow will incur a $500 fee and, per VrBO policy, your booking can be cancelled without refund.

Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Cape Fear area rental experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Bald Head Island. Booking your Cape Fear area vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby tours and attractions.

Selecting the perfect rental home:

  • Choose your dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Updated 4 BR home in Cape Fear Station by East Beach with access to Shoals Club has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Tips for a great stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Call the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
