Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental home experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to choose the perfect rental home:

  • Select your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. OCEAN ISLE BEACH WATERFRONT CANAL HOME WITH EASY BEACH ACCESS has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. Otherwise, email or call the host before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
