"Balvenie" is located in Flora's Bluff on South Beach. We are right across from the beach with direct beach access just steps away! We have a reverse floor plan with the living room, dining and kitchen upstairs. Downstairs we have a king master suite, along with two other bedrooms. The 2nd bedroom is a queen room and the 3rd bedroom / nook is a twin bed with a trundle. Both rooms share a bathroom.

When to visit Bald Head Island & When to book:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Bald Head Island. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Cape Fear area attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.

  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
