Tips and Tricks for getting the best Cape Fear area vacation property experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Oak Island rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Oak Island. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning, picking, and booking the perfectvacation home:

  • Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Yorkshire: Wireless internet, oceanfront porch and deck with walkway to beach. has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
