How to book the best Sunset Beach vacation property experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 080 Baywatch by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If not, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
