Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Booking in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Finding the perfect vacation rental in Sunset Beach:

  • Start by having your group choose trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 112 Ella by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
