How to book the best Cape Fear area vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Summer months are high season in the Cape Fear area area. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the best rental home in the Cape Fear area area:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 13C - Fairway Villa overlooking Oyster Bay Golf Links has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If not, reach out to the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
