Tips to get the very best vacation property experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Cape Fear area area. To find the largest rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Cape Fear area attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

How to pick the best rental home in Sunset Beach:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 1st Floor 2 BR Villa - Beautiful Views - (CV24B) has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
