Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • To get the best value, consider changing your family's Cape Fear area vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose your vacation week and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. 200 Steps To Somewhere: Dog-friendly Home with Private Pool Between Beach and Da has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you book the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Cape Fear area attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
